I will be the first to tell you that I am not a huge Valentine’s Day person. I personally enjoy regular and consistent displays of my affection for my loved ones, family, and friends. But, that does not mean I can’t give yall some amazing ideas to make this Valentine’s day THE BEST EVER.
Before we jump into the nitty-gritty of gift giving, I want to tell you a little about Scott and I. Scott’s first Valentine’s day gift to me was tennis lessons. At the time, I was absolutely not into tennis. The idea sparked for him when I crashed his Mom and Dad’s family vacation and attended the Australian Open with them. We had a great time! Scott’s Mom taught me how the scoring worked and we went to the matches. As I watched, I couldn’t help but think “Who can’t do this? It’s just hitting a ball back and forth”. A few months later, Scott surprises me with tennis lessons and I remember being very competitive. My first swing at the ball, I hit the ball way too hard and at that moment thought, “Oh, I have to master this!” It’s pretty cool because when I think about our lives now, the most amount of time we spend together outside of regular life stuff is while playing tennis and I am obsessed.
I wanted to mention that story because a lot of people put too much pressure on Valentine’s Day. I could get every person on my team a great Valentine’s day gift not as an “I’m in Love With You” gift but as a loving gift because I am paying attention to those around me and keyed in on what would be special to them. Scott opened me up to tennis and now it is an activity, sport and obsession I can’t imagine my life without.
Okay, now let’s talk about how to make this Valentine’s Day extra special because I know yall are like “Shaun T that’s cute and all but I have to make this V-day LIT”.
Here are the one thing you need to do to create an amazing Valentine’s Day:
Be Creative
Creativity requires effort and at the end of the day that is the ultimate gift everyone wants, all the time. People want to know that they were thought of, loved and paid attention to. Getting creative this Valentine’s Day is the perfect way to say “I Love You!”
You don’t have to break the bank or be excessive; just remember creativity and you are good to go.
This Valentine’s Day, set up an at-home Spa in your living room. I have done this for Scott before and he LOVED it! All you need is some great candles, drinks, music, maybe some diffusers and comfy pillows. You can give your love some deep and intimate attention which will blow them away.
Is your relationship new and y’all aren’t at the spa/intimate stage yet? You could buy your love roses but deliver them in a unique and exciting way. The key to remember here is creativity. Self care items are always a great option like facial masks, lotions, mists, creams and etc.
When getting creative and making an effort don’t forget the other key things to avoid on this Valentines Day. For example, if your love has started a super rigorous fitness journey and has been focused on food and overall health then maybe going out to eat at your favorite Italian restaurant isn’t the V-day date you want to opt for. You want to celebrate one another without compromising your goals and progress in life.
Being able to really know the person that you are giving a gift to makes it easier to tailor your gift. Scott says, the key to getting someone you care about a great gift is to just continue to pay attention. He spilled his secret for you revealing that he keep notes in his phone. When he is around me and hears me mention a new face cream I want to try or a place I want to go he adds it to a note he has in his phone and when it’s time to give gifts he has a whole list of options to choose from to make me feel so special!
